Motorists searching for a quality automobile service facility have a major ally. The California State Automobile Association
[CSAA], affiliated with the national Automobile
Association of America [AAA], operates an independent certification program for repair
shops. The win their approval, shops must submit to a stringent examination of facilities,
service records and a random check of 200 customers to determine if there were satisfied.
It takes a 90 percent satisfaction rating to win AAA approval.
CSAA examines technicians and their training, the appearance of the facility, the range
of services, the equipment, the community reputation and customer satisfaction. For CSAA
member, using an approved garage carries with it a limited six-month or 6,000 mile
warranty on repairs. In addition, the association offers dispute resolution between
members and certified garages.
The association stays on top of a facilities service by asking its members to complete
survey cards each time they use a shop. Survey results are used to rate repair work,
personnel, whether the shop delivered the car on time and whether they would use the shop
again.

earned.
