Born in Malta, Alpio Barbara came to the
United States at the age of 2 with his parents and six brothers and sisters.
Settling first in San Francisco, the Barbara family moved to San Mateo. He
grew up there.
Alpio began his career in the tire industry in his teens as a
tire changer with a local wholesaler/retailer. Throughout the years, his
talents in sales and management were recognized, culminating in his becoming
general manager/owner in a multi-store, retail and wholesale operation.
His professionalism and interest in improving quality and
image in the tire industry are recognized not only locally but statewide. He
is a past president of the Northern California Tire Dealers Association.
Redwood General is a member of the Independent Tire Dealer Group. Alpio is on
the associations Board of Directors. Alpio says, because of group purchases
the association makes, he now sells tires for less that he used to have to pay
for them.
Alpio's organizational talents extend beyond his company.
He is active in a number of local charitable organizations - including
President of
the Redwood City Police Activities League. The league recently completed the
construction of a new building which provides an after school facility for
youngsters. Activities such as tutoring, karate, dancing, boxing and computer
access is provided at the new facility.
Alpio has brought a level of integrity and quality service to Redwood
General Tire that is unequaled in the industry. His high standards are
reflected by the entire staff in their work and in the level of customer
service provided. Alpio says, "At Redwood General Tire, we do not promise to
have the lowest advertised prices. And we do not promise that we will get your
tires put on in 30 minutes. We do promise we will have the 'Lowest Total
Package Price' on any size and make tire you need. "
